We help teachers and moms infuse their curriculum with literacy at the core. Our goal is to put literacy at the core of everything taught so children will never fall behind because of poor reading skills again.
Let me tell you something about us.
We remember those early days of teaching when we just needed something to teach! We didn’t have time to create great lessons. We didn’t have time to consider what our focus was. We just needed something to teach.
We started this blog to provide quick and easy resources, with a literacy focus, so you don’t have to worry about what to teach.
And what if you aren’t an English teacher? Or even a teacher at all? Maybe you understand the importance of teaching literacy, but you don’t know how to add a novel to your curriculum. Or maybe you’re a mom who wants to homeschool, but doesn’t know where to start.
This site is for you. We’ll show you exactly how to include literacy skills in every lesson. And how to teach a novel in math, science, social science, or even art. And, homeschooling moms, we’ll teach you how to infuse literacy into everything you teach, even if your kids aren’t in school yet.
If this sounds like a place for you, we’d love to have you join our tribe of literacy teachers and mamas. Subscribe to our mailing list to stay up to date with our new curriculum and resources!
Meet Acacia
I’m a librarian and teacher with a passion for literacy. I’m also a mom who plans to homeschool her kids using the Classical Education model.
I have a bachelor’s degree in English. A Single Subject Teaching Credential in English. A Teacher Librarian Credential. And Master’s degree in Library and Information Science.
I worked in the California school system as a High School English Teacher and a Teacher-Librarian for 11 years before I had my kids.
I’m currently a mom to two little boys which occupies most of my time, but on the side, I work as an Adjunct Librarian at a local college and blog about mom life at librarianmom.com.
Meet Emily
I’m a former high school English teacher with a love for curriculum development and literacy. I have a bachelor’s degree in English with an emphasis in creative writing, and a Single Subject Teaching Credential in English.
I was a high school English teacher for four years before becoming a mom.
I’m currently a stay-at-home mom to my young daughter, and I hope to homeschool her using a combination of the Charlotte Mason method and the Classical Education model. When I have some time to myself, I enjoy reading historical fiction novels or listening to podcasts.
